I am doing research on the missing coupons to find out what happened. Apparently, this is happening in a lot of newspapers across major cities in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington DC, North Carolina, Maryland and Texas. I have found a press release from Red Plum. Here it is:
“Starting in February, the RedPlum coupon booklet will now be delivered in Cleveland through consumers’ mailboxes along with their weekly grocery circulars and other savings and deals. By using direct mail, the RedPlum insert will now be able to reach almost twice as many Cleveland households as in the past. In these challenging economic times, it has never been more important to make these essential savings available to as many Clevelanders as possible so they can stretch the dollars in their wallets.” -Thomas Murray, Vice President of the Valassis Corporation
Too bad we don't live in Cleveland...
If you don't plan on moving to Cleveland, here's what you can do:
1. Contact the companies that advertise and issue coupons in the Red Plum inserts and express your discontent. You can find a list of the companies and contact information here. You can also contact the Valassis Company itself (issuers of Red Plum) and complain online or by calling the number 1-800-437-0479.
Here is a sample letter from Bring Back the Coupons:
"Your company regularly advertises in the Red Plum Coupon Insert. Valassis has recently made a decision to no longer put Red Plum coupon inserts in select newspapers. The newspaper I currently subscribe to is one of these. Therefore, I will no longer have access to your coupons, which in turn I assure you will have an impact on whether or not I purchase your product. In fact, I will not be purchasing your product at all. Please take the time to contact Valassis and let them know that consumers like me would like to see the coupon inserts back in our Sunday newspapers."
2. You can leave a comment about how this is affecting you on this website created to bring attention to Valassis about how this impacts consumers.
3. You can also sign up to get your coupons delivered via mail here.
Please make your voice heard!!

My papers (2 different ones) did not have a single coupon in them yesterday! I wonder if they are all going electronic.
I am upset as well. But if it wasn't for redplum.com, there online coupon source, I would be screwed.
There were no coupons on Sunday because of Presidents' Day. Internet coupons are not a solution, because more and more stores are refusing to accept them. If you haven't written to Red Plum's advertisers, please get started. Even if you're still getting the newspaper coupons now, you never know when your paper will no longer have them.
